Featured this month

“A strong scheduler for small businesses, built on content categories and evergreen recycling. The two cheaper plans include one user.”

“A fast, easy WordPress host with low first-term prices. Budget for renewals about three times higher.”

“A server-side email filter that works in any email app and reads only headers, held back by expensive monthly pricing, a two-tool limit on the cheapest plan and terms that date from 2021.”

Methodology
Same four steps for every guide, in the same order, so two guides can be compared honestly.
We define the job the software has to do before we open a single product page. Features get judged against that job, not against each other.
The vendor's own documentation, live pricing page, published plan limits and contract terms — read in full, not summarised from another comparison site.
We read across verified user reviews looking for complaints that repeat. One unhappy customer is noise; the same complaint fifty times is a finding.
Every guide carries the date its pricing was last verified, and we revisit each one at least twice a year.
Sources
We are a research desk, not a test lab. Here is exactly what that means.
Published feature docs, plan limits, and contract and cancellation terms — read at the source rather than copied from someone else's comparison table.
We look for the complaint that repeats across dozens of customers, not the loudest single review. Patterns are evidence; one bad week isn't.
Where documentation is unclear on price, limits or data export, we ask — and we publish the answer we were given, including when we didn't get one.
We don't run a hands-on lab test of every product we write about, and we won't pretend otherwise. Where a guide is based on research rather than direct use, it says so. If a claim isn't something we can point at a source for, it doesn't go in the guide — and if you want to know where a particular claim came from, ask and we'll send you the page.

Who's behind this
SoftReviewLab is an independent publication founded and run by Abdullahi Abdirahman, Founder & Editor, who researches and writes every review, comparison and guide on the site. It started out of frustration with researching software purchases through listicles with no opinion in them, so every article is written to be what he wished he could read: a clear recommendation, the reasoning behind it, and the limitation that never appears on a feature page.
SoftReviewLab is run by one person today. If writers join, they will be named here, follow the same research method and editorial rules, and every article will keep a named author you can hold to account.
We fund the site with affiliate links. Vendors cannot pay for coverage, change a score, or see an article before it publishes.
We're setting up the SoftReviewLab newsletter. Leave your email and you'll get the first issue when it launches: new reviews, and any price change that affects your shortlist.
No spam, no vendor blasts. Every email will include an unsubscribe link.
